Waste King Incorporated, manufacturer of premier garbage disposers for residential and commercial use, is committed to developing lifetime corrosion-free products while maintaining the high quality of material used.

To meet that goal in its residential line, the company recently converted an important upper housing from stainless steel to a corrosion-free engineered polymer compound manufactured by RTP Company. "The housing is so strong," says Waste King's Vice President of Marketing, Dan Graves, "that an elephant could perform a one-leg stand on it!"

In addition, the sink flange and bolt which link the sink to the disposer are now fabricated of the same material. Injection molding allows for consolidation of parts and is easier and more economical than fabricating stainless steel. Vacuum metallizing of the sink flange is the only secondary processing step.

RTP Company's George Yule, sales engineer for this program, says "there was good interaction between Waste King, RTP, and the molders of the two parts to develop the right design, the right material and the right processing." For Waste King, it brings them a step closer to their lifetime corrosion-free goal.
