End-Use Case Study
Spray Nozzle Safety Guard
Titan Tool Inc. has eliminated a stainless steel part by designing an injection moldable replacement. The patented part, a spray nozzle safety guard, disables the sprayer when removed.
The guard is made of RTP 200 Series (nylon 6/6) with carbon and glass fiber reinforcement. The specialty compound eliminates static discharge, which can occur because of improper cleaning of the equipment.
The application is "drop" tested 12 ft. to concrete while attached to a 1 lb. spray gun. The material features an un-notched impact strength of 20 ft. lbs./in. The specialty compound provides surface resistivity of 1010 ohm-cm. and static day of < 2.0 seconds (MiL B-81705C).
The guard is used in industrial environments for airless paint sprayers. The sprayers use hot and cold fluids, including some solvents.
