Technical Brief
Specialty Compounds for Pipettes
The use of automated liquid handling equipment has placed demands on pipette suppliers to provide tips with improved conductive and hydrophobic properties. RTP Company has imagineered polypropylene materials that meet these needs and also offers high-flow properties which simplify the injection molding manufacturing process for pipette tips.
Conductivity is provided at a consistant volume resistivity of <25 ohm-cm, lower liquid retention is achieved through a 15% improvement in release properties resulting from lower surface energy in the polypropylene compounds, and a melt flow index of 20 g/10 min allows molds to fill faster during manufacturing and tip to be designed with thinner wall cross-sections.
