WINONA, MINNESOTA, USA — RTP Company, a global leader in specialty compounding, offers platable compounds that can be finished to look and feel like polished metal. Besides appearing like metal, some compounds with high specific gravity (between 2 and 11) mimic the heft and weight of metal.

Platable compounds offer tremendous flexibility in design and assembly while eliminating expensive and time-consuming steps associated with plating metals. In addition, their chemical resistance helps extend product life and improve aesthetics in applications where metals perform poorly.

Developed individually for a variety of processes, including electroplating, vacuum metallizing, and powder coating, each formulation is sufficiently heat resistant and dimensionally stable to prevent warping in the high-temperature plating environment.

Some RTP Company platable compounds offer embedded conductivity to attract the metal plate without using a conductive primer. Other non-conductive formulas require a chemical etching phase before plating.
