Glow-in-the-Dark Compounds

Glow in the Dark Compounds offer multiple options in glow duration, intensity, color, and price. New classes of pigments allow for longer glow duration and brighter glow intensity. Some can be laser marked to produce permanent imprints of characters, numbers, or symbols, while others have surprising color changes in darkness from light.

Product Characteristics

  • Best effects in transparent/translucent polymers such as polyolefins, styrenics, nylons, urethanes, acrylic, and polycarbonate.
  • Greatest effect with no additional fillers in compound.
  • As part's wall thickness increases (up to a limit), glow brightness and afterglow duration increases.
  • Masterbatches are NOT recommended.
  • Usually provide afterglow for the lifetime of the plastic.
  • No special molding equipment is required. Once encapsulated into plastics, the pigments have very little effect on equipment.

Typical Applications

  • Automotive: trunk latches, instrument panels, buttons
  • Consumer: toys, electronics, cosmetics, furniture armrests
  • Building: stair railings, exit aisles
  • Signs
