Asset Care and Reliability Manager (Maintenance Manager) – South Boston, VA

RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

We are currently seeking an Asset Care & Reliability Manager for our South Boston, VA plant. This position is responsible for plant asset optimization through predictive, preventive, and scheduled corrective and refurbishment of machinery and equipment to maintain operational efficiency as well as lead the site asset care and reliability specialists.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide a safe and compliant workplace
  • Craftsman skills development and performance reviews
  • Supervise as person of record non-licensed electrical technicians
  • Communication of work plans, schedules, and business announcements
  • Support of trouble shooting and repair for electrical issues on day shift
  • Planning & scheduling of identified work in asset essentials
  • MRO research, planning, and requisition
  • Management of PM’s
  • Scheduling, coordinating, and oversight of on-site contract work
  • RCCA on significant failures greater than 48 hours of downtime or $15,000 Single Events
  • Remote sensor program monitoring and actions
  • Lubrication excellence program execution
  • Ultrasonic Program execution
  • Asset essentials data capture integrity
  • KPI generation and improvement over time
  • Identification and execution of productivity projects based on local data (4% annually)
  • Maintenance budget management & execution


  • Prefer an associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, business administration, facility management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
  • Must hold a minimum of a Journeymen Electrical License (Master Electrician License preferred)
  • Must have strong mechanical skills
  • Must have electrical experience
  • Must have demonstrated experience leading a team
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Preferred experience with budget and cost management
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy, tact, and confidentiality when dealing with customers (internal and external).
  • Must be able to communicate with people in various positions and levels within the company
  • Must be willing to travel on an as-needed basis
