RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, MN, is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Germany, France, Singapore, and China. RTP Company engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

The Electromechanical Maintenance Technician performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems involving production equipment and plant systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting emergency maintenance problems on all production lines
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities depending upon area of assignment including performing basic trade activities
  • Repairs electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; and replaces faulty electrical equipment as needed
  • Must have a familiarity with NFPA 70E standards and is able to apply these standards in the work situation
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or another members of the leadership team
  • The ability to work overtime and weekends is required

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year technical degree in maintenance required but will consider related experience
  • A WI Electrical Journeyman license or the ability to obtain one is required
  • The ideal candidate must have experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment in a manufacturing facility
  • Applicant must be team oriented with excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • HVAC/chiller/air compressor knowledge a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools and controls, talk and/or hear
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and handle (with mechanical assistance) up to 250 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by plant safety procedures
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, risk of electric shock, moving mechanical parts, and non-hazardous chemical agents
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
