RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

RTP Company is currently seeking a Logistics Planning Assistant in Winona, Minnesota. This position reports directly to the Logistics Operations Manager and is responsible for 3rd party carrier set up, lane assignment and load execution within RTP Transportation Management Software (TMS).


  • Maintain outside carrier profile, rates and settings within the TMS.
  • Interact with Logistics Operations Manager and other department managers as needed to assure optimum workflow and customer satisfaction is obtained.
  • Oversee and monitor carrier on time performance.
  • Recommend TMS setting changes within the TMS.
  • Assist in the creation of all routing lanes within the TMS for Transfer, Inbound and outbound.
  • Recommend changes in carrier “waterfall” order within the TMS.
  • Monitor carrier performance (rates and service) and make carrier adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee and process of freight invoice audit/match process to assure compliance.
  • Assist with establishing freight assessorial charges and monitor carrier compliance.
  • Oversee carrier contract and insurance expiration dates within the TMS.
  • Dispatch of fleet drivers as needed.
  • Coordinate inbound freight with buyer group and fleet management.

Physical/Environmental Demands:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time. The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Proper personal safety equipment is to be used as pointed out by plant safety procedures. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, hot and cold weather conditions. The employee is also exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard.


  • Minimum of 1 year in logistics/transportation
  • Experience with TMS software
  • Experience with 3rd party carrier load administration and brokerage process
  • Strong computer skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong written and oral communication
