RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

The Maintenance Materials Assistant has the primary responsibility for assisting the MRO Procurement team in all stock room functions, helping maintain inventory accuracy, and preparing assets/parts for shipment purposes.

  • Practices high level of service to both the MRO Procurement team and the plant Maintenance team to achieve company goals
  • Participates in receiving of activities (collecting inbound packages / freight from receiving dock, opening boxes, checking packing slips against actual qty and part received, noting discrepancies)
  • Assists with physical labeling of new material and stocking inbound parts
  • Participates in cycle counting program as needed
  • Complete work orders as dictated for outbound shipments: repair, returns, transfers to other sites
  • Process part returns from Maintenance team and restocks material
  • Organizes stock room and warehouse space for best utilization of space for both parts and assets
  • Follow directions from MRO Procurement team on day-to-day activities to support department goals
  • Performs housekeeping / 5S activities
  • Helps enforce storeroom policies, procedures and safety of material and site
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Must demonstrate Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Must have effective interpersonal and customer skills
  • Must be efficiency-minded, well organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined
  • Must demonstrate proficiency on the use of the computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Must have a current RTP Company issued forklift license or be willing to take the test upon acceptance of position

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent amount of experience
  • Prior experience with RTP Company production or maintenance department preferred but not required
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools and controls
  • Occasionally required to sit for long periods of time as well as look at a computer screen
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and handle (with mechanical assistance) up to 75 pounds
  • Proper personal safety equipment is to be used as required by plant safety procedures
  • The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, hot and cold weather conditions
  • The employee is also exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard/li>
