RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

This position is responsible for plant asset optimization through predictive, preventive, and scheduled corrective and refurbishment of machinery and equipment to maintain operational efficiency as well as lead the site maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Trouble shoot and repair maintenance and electrical issues
  • Plan and schedule identified work
  • Perform and manage PM’s
  • Oversee and supervise as person of record non-licensed electrical technicians
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee on-site contract work
  • Use and maintain accuracy of maintenance software management program
  • Monitor and promote adherence to department KPI’s
  • Provide a safe and compliant workplace through participation in the corporate safety program
  • Lead a staff of technicians to include hiring, performance management, termination, skills development, and other related people management requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy, tact, and confidentiality when dealing with customers (internal and external)
  • Must be able to communicate with people in various positions and levels within the company
  • Must be willing to travel on an as needed basis
  • Must demonstrate strong mechanical skills
  • Must have electrical experience
  • Must be willing to perform the work as well as lead the work
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Preferred experience with budget and cost management
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office

Education and Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, facility management, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Prior experience leading a team is preferred
  • Prior cost management experience preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Occasional travel to other locations may be required
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools and controls, talk and/or hear
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and handle (with mechanical assistance) up to 250 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by plant safety procedures
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, risk of electric shock, moving mechanical parts, and non-hazardous chemical agents
