RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

The Production Lead takes direction from the Manufacturing Manager and is accountable for the supervision, direction, training, and evaluation of a production team.

  • Assists in the maintenance of equipment by effectively communicating issues or any potential problems
  • Communicates with warehouse support groups to maintain appropriate production schedules
  • Projects raw and finished material needs for given time periods
  • Works to minimize product loss and production related waste
  • Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines
  • Administers training for new personnel as well as long term employees on the production team
  • Leads production staff in daily activities
  • Assists in performance evaluations of staff
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact (internal and external)
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be able to communicate with people in various positions and levels within the company
  • Must have strong interpersonal training and coaching skills
  • Must be able to research and interpret employment regulations
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Previous supervisor experience is desired
  • Mechanical skills preferred
  • Excellent attendance with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and/or hear
  • The employee may occasionally need to handle up to 60 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyveksuit, gloves, etc.
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible
  • Proper personal safety equipment is to be used while performing this job as pointed out by plant safety procedures
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
