RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

Quality Assurance Lab Technicians are responsible for assuring product specification is achieved through testing and data collection. Protecting the customer from non-conforming material is a critical importance. These individuals work in accordance with the RTP Company Quality Policy, which commits to defect-free products that exceed customer’s expectations.

  • Gathering and testing samples
  • Lab equipment includes: scales, ovens, molding press, small extruders, microscope, etc.
  • Recording and analyzing data in a computer and on paper, to ensure specification is met and continues to be controlled
  • Communicate with production, management, and team members regarding the results of tests
  • Hold/reject non-conforming material when it is not in specification
  • Assist in troubleshooting product quality issues
  • Troubleshoot basic lab equipment issues
  • Complete improvement projects as assigned by the QA manager
  • Maintain lab’s key metrics, calibration
Physical and Environmental Demands:
  • Employees will be exposed to a dusty and dirty environment
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, use hands to manipulate small tools; talk and/or hear, and sit
  • May have to lift up to 60lbs
  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • This position requires the use of safety equipment (PPE) as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and safety shoes, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyveksuit, gloves, etc.
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents, forklifts and machinery, and other general industrial hazards
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
  • Computer skills required; strong with Microsoft Excel, Windows operating system, and general computer experience required
  • Strong mathematic comprehension necessary
  • Must be able to work independently with limited or no supervision
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through email with the team
  • Excellent attendance, work ethic, dependability, and honesty

  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have solid organization skills and have good perception and general awareness
  • Shift hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 5:00PM
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must be able to work over time
  • Pay: $20/hour
