RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

We are currently seeking a Regional Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager to be located in either Indianapolis, IN, or Gahanna, OH, with regular travel within the region of Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky and periodic other locations with RTP Company. This role is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety Program. The policies and programs which protect the employees and facilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Training curriculum and documentation to meet regulatory and insurer requirements including new hire and monthly employee safety programs
  • Accident reporting/investigations, coordinating workers compensation claims
  • Periodic inspections
  • Site emergency and security
  • Industrial hygiene testing
  • Waste management/minimization
  • Air and water quality permitting/monitoring
  • Medical Surveillance
  • Coordination of required annual employee testing such as respirator fit testing and hearing tests
  • Compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Customer EHS questionnaires and auditing
  • Completion of all activities outlined in the in the annual EHS Plan

This individual reports to the Global Director, Health & Safety and interfaces with Plant Managers and site personnel at all RTP Company locations. Good communication, training, and comprehension skills are necessary, in addition to good administrative and technical skills necessary to coordinate programs and determine priorities and delegations. Technical skills are required to recognize and correct safety hazards, anticipate potential hazards, and be confident that the techniques and judgement made will withstand future legal and regulatory scrutiny.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the safety field
  • CSP or CIH certification is preferred
