RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, MN, is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Germany, France, Singapore, and China. RTP Company engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

This position develops, implements, and communicates overall sustainability strategy and programs to promote and increase the awareness of organizational sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements Environmental Management systems across all locations (e.g. ISO 14001) including defining requirements and leading local teams in the implementation and sustaining activities related to these management systems
  • Manages and oversees activities related to sustainability and environmental stewardship including staffing, scheduling, coordinating and planning
  • Defines Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to track progress and success of sustainability initiatives
  • Assures that organizational sustainability efforts are compliant with laws, regulations, policies, and standards
  • Identifies areas of improvement for the organization to increase sustainability efforts and prepares proposals and recommendations to executives
  • Acts as the organization’s sustainability expert and advocate to internal staff and other external organizations
  • Develops, manages, and works with sustainability teams and leaders to research sustainability issues and concerns
  • Communicates results and progress of key sustainability initiatives to executives and sustainability/environmental leadership teams
  • Keeps abreast on industry trends and best practices related to sustainability
  • May work with other staff to plan sustainability awareness and outreach events
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental, or related field with 5 years of experience or a relative combination of education and experience
  • Must have experience implementing ISO Management Systems
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible
  • Proper personal safety equipment is to be used while performing this job as pointed out by plant safety procedures
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and chemical dust
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
