Facilities Manager Position Available – Winona, MN

RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has 18 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Germany, France, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

This position is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s buildings are well maintained, safe, secure, and productive for employees and visitors. The Facilities Manager will actively manage and supervise all personnel (internal & external) in the execution of these responsibilities. In addition, this position has primary responsibility to assure all supporting programs, systems, tools, and technology are in place and maintained. The Facilities Manager is expected to recommend ways to improve operations and the physical work environment to support optimized health & safety, optimized productivity and optimized cost.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the overall services provided within the facility
  • Create a suitable environment for the purpose and needs of each assigned facility
  • Use best business practices to manage budgets and reduce operation costs
  • Create a budget for various facility needs and expenses
  • Compare costs for various services and goods before choosing the best options for the facility
  • Manage the maintenance of the building by directing the performance of repairs or contracting maintenance services as needed
  • Track building upkeep as well as anticipated long- and short-term improvements and maintenance
  • Keep the surrounding grounds properly cared for and landscaped
  • Interview and hire certain facility employees and contractors, such as maintenance staff, security staff and janitorial services
  • Handle certain administrative tasks, such as developing and preparing performance (KPI) reports and assisting with regulatory filings
  • Ensure the security of the building by researching and implementing various security measures, such as surveillance cameras or security staff members
  • Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving the facility
  • Manage technical projects from conception to completion with a hands-on approach
  • Contributes to the training and evaluations of all direct reports
  • Enforce safety and health guidelines amongst employees
  • File for and lead required inspections (state, local, insurance, etc.)
  • Draft, review, and authorize maintenance procedures
  • Submit and review quote requests for goods and services
  • Order necessary parts, supplies, and equipment required for maintenance and project work


  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, facilities management, or a related field; experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Experience using various facilities related software/technologies such as BMS/BAS, CMMS, IWMS, and Fire Protection Management Systems
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite of products
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or similar environment is strongly preferred
