Quality Assurance In-Process Lab Technician (1st Shift) – Winona, MN

RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

The Quality Assurance In-Process Lab Technician is responsible for performing testing according to RTP Company inspection and test methods including ash content, moisture content, melt flow rate, pellet cleanliness inspection, specific gravity, pellet count, pellet quality, HDT, composite photos, and others. Testing is performed on both in-process samples and finished products. Some basic mathematical calculations will be required, as is excellent attention to detail. The individual will follow the lead of the Quality Assurance Manager and Senior Lab Technician to perform additional assignments as needed.


  • Performs required testing of RTP Company plastics in both pellet and molded forms
  • Labels specific tests needed on molding samples received
  • Enters molding sample into Molding Lab Queue
  • Able to multi-task to achieve maximum output and minimize turnaround time
  • Communicates test results to appropriate person(s) and accurately documents test results
  • Able to cover for vacations – come in early or stay late
  • Collaborates with the QA manager, Vice President of QA, Senior QA Lab Technician, and other QA personnel to work towards the highest quality product

Physical/Environmental Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time and transport molding samples to the molding room shelf.


  • Prior related lab experience is preferred
