Quality Engineer – Dayton, NV

RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minn., is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.

RTP Company is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Dayton, NV plant. This position has overall supervisory responsibility for personnel and activities in the quality assurance department. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining the ISO 9001:2015 certification requirements for the site and participating globally in RTP Company’s internal audit program.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality objectives are met: on-time shipment, conforming product, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site quality management system (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Perform the function of host and local expert for customer and 3rd party quality system audits
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the test equipment and procedures
  • Provide training of QA lab employees on all lab related activities
  • Provide support for all areas as they relate to the site quality system
  • Internal and external quality system audits as assigned
  • Coordinate the continuous refinement of systems used in the lab
  • Perform specification reviews, both internal and external, as required
  • Project work as assigned by the corporate quality team

The ideal candidate will exhibit the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or scientific field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ISO 9001 knowledge preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work under tight deadlines and support multiple projects at once
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy, tact, and confidentiality when dealing with customers (internal and external)
  • Must have strong interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Must have a safety focused approach to work
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
