Quality Inspector Position Available – Goodview, MN

RTP Company is a specialty thermoplastics compounder with corporate headquarters located in Winona, MN. We operate twenty production plants in the United States, Europe, Mexico and Asia and have sales offices in major commerce centers around the world.

We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector for our Cast Sheet operations at our newly constructed Goodview, MN facility, which produces advanced optical plastic sheet used in everything from aircraft windshields to electronics displays. As an integral part of the Engineered Sheet Products (ESP) division of RTP Company, the Quality Inspector reports to the Operations Manager. This individual is responsible for duties related to the day-to-day quality assurance activities including raw materials, sampling, and finished material approvals, along with assisting in the daily manufacturing process and other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Upon starting, the Quality Inspector will spend approximately 60-70% of the time working as a Cell Cast Technician, learning and understanding the cell casting process while aiding in plant startup. As the facility and business grows, the intent is for production support to taper off while increasing in Quality Inspector responsibilities.

Essential Duties:

  • Participates in daily approvals
  • Maintains calibration records and performs duties associated with calibration of process equipment and quality tools
  • Has a working knowledge of all test equipment and procedures used in the finished sheet selection process
  • Maintains cast sheet visual inspection procedures and in-process inspection plans
  • Maintains manufacturing quality standards and standard operating procedures
  • Maintains product packaging standards
  • Effectively communicates with global QA Team to support goals and best practices
  • Carries out responsibilities of a Cell Cast Technician when necessary to assist manufacturing
    • Handle glass cells and sets up according to specifications, changing glass, gaskets and clips as necessary
    • Set equipment to run specifications and fill cells
    • De-mold sheets and clean glass cells as required
    • Set up laminators to product dimensions, mask sheets, package, and prepare for shipping
    • Complete work orders and production reports
    • Assist on small mechanical problems
  • Project work as assigned by the Operations Manager or VP of Quality


  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or sufficient combination of related education and work experience is required
  • Must have exceptional attention to details and have the ability to visually inspect small imperfections in product being produced
  • Must be hands-on: willing to work with mixing equipment, injection process, curing/annealing ovens and laser cutting machines
  • Ability to function and work independently
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with good organizational skills
  • Dependable with excellent attendance
  • Works well with others and has a strong work ethic

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
